Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

At Heritage, we place a high value on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as a way of exploring and discovering God’s creation. Grades K-10 use Singapore Math, which is a rigorous mastery-based program. For science, elementary students explore scientific concepts through their IPC (International Primary Curriculum) units, while middle school students study a variety of topics in biology, chemistry, and physics each year. All students up through grade 8 take a computer class to improve their skills in working with technology. In high school, students have the opportunity to take more specialized classes in all of these subjects, along with exciting electives. Past STEM electives have included Engineering, Architecture, and Hardware Design. High school students can also challenge themselves through internationally-recognized AP courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, and Computer Science.

In addition to regular coursework, students throughout the school have regular in-school and after-school STEM activities available to them. Past opportunities have included bridge and tower building contests, Invention Convention, Tournament of Minds, robotics competitions, and elementary STEM stations. We have an annual Science fair that is gaining momentum from year to year.
